Blackberry Q5, Why I don't Like It

OK. Last post was June 2012.
Didn't have the mood to write. I got sick all the time and I didn't buy expensive cosmetics, so nothing worth to write.

This time I'll write about something I rarely write: about GADGET.

My old Bold Blackberry is almost 2 years old now, quite elderly for a smartphone. I decided to get a new one.
For those who'd say "it's no longer blackberry era" or in Indonesian "Hari gene masih pake BB?" I'd reply, politely: I love Blackberry. I don't care what you say. I don't like android much, and I can't stand WhatsApp.

I choose Q5 because: my BF said it's good. And red is available. Then I checked myself: it has a camera for selfie. cool. I want that. Simple as that. Shallow as that.

So I sold the old one and get the RED Q5.

Turns out I hate it.

Just like Windows8, it's not user friendly. I'm not a high-tech geek, but as normal people, I found those things difficult to use. (it's been months since my office got the Windows8, I still hate and grumpy about that).

Here's why I don't like Q5:

  • call it silly, but it has no 'back' button. I have to scroll, scroll, scroll like crazy to be 'back'.
  • it has no 'blackberry icon' , the one to 'edit' 'copy' etc. I don't know how to edit 'autotext' and a friend say "read the manual book". Huh. Since when we start reading Manual Book??!
  • it has no front page icons. I don't know how to explain this, but my new BB has a BBM, FB, Twitter, text messages icons on front page. and I don't have to scroll to find them. Probably I have to read the manual book to get a front page I like
  • you can't use normal Blackberry package in Telkomsel. I need to use Internet Package. So when the quota is finished and 'pulsa' is empty, I'd have a smartphone that can't call, text, or open Facebook. My old Blackberry still can use BBM and FB even without 'pulsa'

I don't like spending energy on something unimportant like trying to get 'back' so I think I'll sell this one.
I'll edit if I found anything else I hate/love.

UPDATED Feb 25:

  • It has no Auto On/Off option, which is very important on alarms..Now I rely on old fashioned clock.

----

Note: this is a personal review. Probably you like it. A coworker said it's similar to Apple. I don't have Apple and don't want one. And if you hate Windows8, probably you'll hate the BB10.

Clarisonic Brush

Last year, my friend Wina generously gave me a Clarisonic, a skincare gadget.
www.clarisonic.com
I never had a change to write a descent review about this thing because my skin is VERY fluctuating. Here's the example:
I have superflawless skin during and couple months after chemotherapy.
I know it sounds very bad, but i miss what chemo did to my skin. It was glowing. No oil. No dryness. Just perfection. Also I had microdermabrasion on June 2011 so the skin was very very very beautiful. There were times when all I needed was under-eye concealer and loose powder. Seriously.

Then...after 6 months...hormone eruption. That's my own terminology, not the doctor's FYI. I had breakouts allover my chest. My back. My forehead. Cheekbones. I'm just glad that I had no zits on my cheeks, otherwise it would be disaster (because it's easy to get scar on thin areas like cheek). At that time I use Clarisonic twice a day and bathed with antiacne soap...and it didn't help much.

I still had zits.

Right now I'm using the brush once a day, at night. Wait until my skin in normal condition again, I'll write a descent review about it.

If you look carefully, you can see zit allover my forehead. and FYI, I wore foundation and loose powder for this picture.

Earlier this month, I (and the rest of student of PSIL UI) went to Jatiluhur Dam in West Java. I hate traveling so I can't say much about the trip, but I was lucky my body was cooperating very well...no excessive headache.

Once again, unflattering picture of mine. It's hard to look good in photograph with greasy face, short hair and 5 kg weight gain :)

Jangan Cepat Tersinggung

Gue bukan orang yang penyabar atau lemah lembut. Sekarang udah jarang sumpah serapah, namun dalam hati sih masih, hehehe.. Sejak sakit gue jadi lebih sering tersinggung, terutama jika menyangkut penampilan..

Tapi gue berusaha tidak terlalu sensi, berpikir positif 'They're just trying to be nice" atau mereka tidak tahu kondisi gue...dan kalaupun tersinggung gue jawab singkat terus pergi.

Ada hal2 yang tampaknya simpel buat orang lain, tp entah kenapa gue tersinggung (dan berusaha gue tahan)...ini contoh2nya dan jawaban sebenarnya (dalam hati):

Mbak rambut baru nih?
Kampr** loe, bulan Januari gue masih botak!

Dan kalau mereka masi nanya kenapa gue botak padahal udah temenan lama di FB, males gue jawab. Ohya, pengecualian buat temen main game.

Segeran ya mbak? => maksudnya: gendutan?
Berat gue naik 5 kg gak bisa turun, bangs**!!!

Tapi (rambut gini) cantik kok...
I know I look good, I never said I look bad. I just want my long hair back.
and by the way, my hair is curlier than before FYI.

Semangat ya Ra..
Hey, do I look like I'm gonna die tomorrow???!!!!
=> hopefully no.

So please, if you're my friend and really care about me and reading this blog, please don't comment on how good I look with this hair...or my new 'freshness'.
Also I'm thinking about disable-in all comments in my picture.

How Do I Look?

I hope I look good. I just don't care about any comments. My hair finally grows out, I dyed it with cheap hair dye. I'm happy about it. I think I look cute (??) I unveiled my head-cover in April, tried not to reply any comment sarcasticly.

This is what I look now. Short hair, 5 kg weight gain... ..something I really hate because there's nothing I can do about it.

I try protein shakes for dinner. I try vegetables at night. Didn't work. Still have 5 kg to lose.

I still can't exercise because I got tired ALL the time. Go ahead, make comments "do yoga". Unless you've had chemotherapy before, I wouldn't listen to that. I also wouldn't listen to 'you should take this zzz-herbs pills". I'm just tired hearing things.

And lately I feel like ummm...like I just had chemo. Sore throat, light fever, bad coordination. But I don't mention it anymore because people would think I'm just lazy.

Oh my, I just want to get rid of that 5 kg!!!

Benefit Chacha Tint

Right now I'm little bit obsessed with lipstain, so when my aunt went to Malaysia, I asked her to get me a lipstain.

She bought me Benefit Chacha Tint (and got herself a Benetint).

FYI, Benefit is not available in Indonesia at the time of writing.

What is a Chacha Tint? It's "This mango-tinted stain beautifully blushes lips & cheeks with a tropical sunset hue. Smooch-proof & smudge-proof, this sheer stain will have you looking deliciously sun-kissed for hours." according to the company.

It took many trial and (LOTS of) error to apply this product.

First, I dot it on my cheek, closed the caps, then worked on my right cheek first, then my left.

BIG mistake.

I got streak on my left cheek!!
At that time I realized that this product absorbed very very quickly. So now I can give you tips to apply the tint:

Open the cap, dot it on one side of your cheek, then blend immediately. Dot the other cheek and blend right away.
Then you can close the cap.

A-Ha!!!
Beautifuly flushed-cheek that lasts all day long!!

This is me wearing the tint. Please pay attention on my blush. I look fresh-er with this.

PS: don't forget to wash your hand after wearing this pigmented tint!

Pixy Color of Delight: Eyeliner and Eyebrow Pencil

Right now I'm interested on local product. Simply because they're cheaper, hehehe. Affordable cosmetics are something good when it comes to something we dont' use everyday, such as bright eyeliner.

I saw Pixy Color of Delight cosmetics in Hypermart. I was interested on their eyeliner because it seemed cute. According the website Mandom Indonesia Tbk this product is "multifunction pencil that can be used as eyeliner and eyeshadow. Available in white, maroon and green". Mine was green.

What they didn't mention is that this pencil had glitter...and also super long lasting. I washed my face many, many times that day and the green liner stayed. Well, not the glitter.

The second product I have is an eyebrow pencil. It's black.
I noticed my eyebrow became thinner since the chemotherapy, so my dark brown Revlon eyebrow pencil no longer natural on my eyebrow since it created reddish brown eyebrow! I don't want something expensive, hopefully my eyebrow will grow back after the chemo :)
The Pixy pencil is a good product. Not too hard, not too soft for eyebrow pencil. I love it. I mix it with my Revlon.

Probably because its dark color, I think it lasts longer than the dark brown Revlon.

I don't remember the price (both eyeliner and eyebrow pencil!), but I think it costs less than IDR 40,000.

Bottom line: Indonesian cosmetics have good quality these days, but I haven't found good local foundation. Yet.
